The veil creates the magic!
When creating a new style for the collection, inspiration can be drawn from a variety of sources such as art, fabric, film or architecture, even just a feeling that I want to bring to life. I'll make sketches, notes and source fabrics that will work well with the ideas, before creating a mood board with photographs, sketches and little notes.
Let's Get Started
When designing your veil, it's essential I take into consideration the details of your wedding gown, the bridal look you've been dreaming of creating, the feeling and flow of your wedding venue and your general style vibe. For example, are you chic and classic, super trendy, boho or alternative, goth or rock and roll?
No matter what your style, each bride wants to look her most beautiful on her wedding day. At Julie Harris Designs every creation is a beautiful expression of a bride's personal style.
We can work together in person, over email or via phone. Or we can Facetime, Skype or Zoom!
Most brides start by sending me an email with pictures of their gown, sharing thoughts and ideas and anything that will help me to understand their vision ~ so I can get an idea of what sort of accessory would complement their gown and express their style.
What Happens Next?
During our appointment or after our discussion I will offer you suggestions, options and a quote. Many of my online clients purchase lace swatches to compare to their gowns.
For in person clients ~ make an appointment to visit the studio and we can talk about your ideas and vision. It's helpful if you can bring along photos of your dress or if you bring the gown to your appointment you can try it on with the veil samples. Once we agree on a design and the materials to be used to create your accessory, I'll ask for a deposit (which is usually 50% of the total cost) and then get to work making your veil or headpiece. We will also agree and confirm a time frame, so you'll know when to expect your veil to be ready for pickup.
For online clients ~ once the details have been confirmed by email, payment in full is due so that I can begin making your veil or headpiece. We will also agree and confirm a time frame so you will know when to expect your veil to be ready for shipment.
All items are sent by USPS Priority Mail with tracking info. I also ship internationally.
Creating Your Vision
Pricing depends on the complexity of the design and the materials used. Small changes to existing designs do not incur an additional charge but more significant style adjustments or combinations of designs will incur an additional cost. All costs will be agreed before any work is started.
Our modern heirloom veils incorporate the finest tulle, hand cut laces and lustrous Swarovski pearls and crystals, each individually applied by hand to your specifications.
It is an honor to be entrusted with creating a special piece to be worn on one of the most important days of a woman's life.
It’s a feeling, a memory, a treasured photo that will last a lifetime.
My veil is so beautiful! I was hunting for a scalloped eyelash Chantilly lace veil after trying one on with my dress and discovering the astronomical price of veils!
This veil is a fraction of the cost of the one I tried at my bridal boutique
and even more beautiful!
The lace is soft and not stiff, really a beautiful piece that I can't wait
to wear on my big day!
Your veil is carefully and precisely made by hand and to order in our Los Angeles design studio. All lace is both cut and painstakingly arranged by hand onto the veil fabric and held in place with pins. During this very meticulous process, attention to detail is key, as is a keen eye to conceal the lace seams. The lace is then expertly and carefully hand-stitched. Once this stage is complete, a tulle wrapped comb is attached (again by hand). The last and final part of production involves the veil being steamed and packaged for shipment to the client or readied for pickup by the bride.
